Overview

Diagnostic accuracy to treat PTSD requires clinicians to be well-versed in clinical management to ensure an optimal treatment course. The diagnostic work-up requires methodical history taking, clinical exam(s), clinical laboratory testing, di?erential diagnoses, mental status exam, and use of PTSD rating scales. An effective treatment plan can then be established.

Learning Objectives/Outcomes apply to all professions.

Learning Outcome Statement: 80% of learners will demonstrate an increased knowledge of evidence-based diagnostic workup and treatment options for the assessment and diagnosis of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) by scoring 80% or higher on a post-test.

To obtain credit and a certificate of completion, learners must complete a pre-test, score 80% or higher on a post-test, and complete a program evaluation.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Construct the necessary clinical pathway to improve diagnostic work-up and treatment of PTSD.
  2. Develop a patient monitoring process to ensure an optimal therapeutic outcome.
  3. Synthesize diagnosis with multi-modal treatment in PTSD.
